Kristin M. Carey, Artist & Designer
My creativity inspiration sparks from color stories I see in nature and art. Especially as the seasons change, I see so many colors in our environment on the island and elsewhere in my travels. Nature always seems to get the color “right”.
I have a degree in Fashion Design, and studied textiles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the internationally recognized Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, New York. It was there I learned the art of weaving.
After five years designing for the children’s wear industry, I moved to Madeline Island and found the local weaving community. This is where I put to use my fashion and textile design background. I am a member of Woods Hall craftsmen and artists; and past board member.
I’m a perfectionist, and I want my clients to love their purchase. My style is unique and I have a very strong sense of color. I think my color sense sets me apart from other designers and weavers.
My husband and I also own Hippophile Farm on Madeline Island where I enjoy training horses and riders of all ages.
I can’t wait to create something for your beautiful home!
